QUANTIFYING AND CLASSIFYING COASTAL CHANGE IN SCOTLAND USING SATELLITE-DERIVED COASTAL BOUNDARIES

چکیده
Global sea levels and the frequency severity of coastal storm events are both predicted to rise with anthropogenic climate change. Coastal storms often accompanied by intense wave energy producing large waves which lead impact damage, overtopping flooding infrastructure Erosion soft coasts can cause instability exacerbate flood risk weakening natural protective features like dunes. To plan effectively for a changing increased risks, managers require continuous, repeatable datasets on past change anticipate potential future changes assess adaptation options.

Classifying and Forecasting Coastal Upwellings in Lake Michigan Using Satellite Derived Temperature Images and Buoy Data
Coastal upwellings are common in the Great Lakes but have lacked enumeration and systematic classification of spatial extent, frequency, duration, and magnitude. Near real-time sea surface temperature (SST) images derived from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) provide indices of upwelling events, but visual inspection of daily images can be tedious. Moreover, the definition o...
متن کاملSatellite Derived Measurements of Coastal Water Chlorophyll-a Variability
Variability of Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) were intensively investigated at the coastal water inPahang Malaysia. Data of Chl-a derived from Aqua MODIS satellite at 1 km spatial resolution from January 2006 to December 2010 was processed to climatological images. The seasonal progressions of Chl-a distribution during the monsoon period shows that high values were detected during the Northeast monsoon ...
متن کاملCoastal Mapping and Change Detection Using High-Resolution IKONOS Satellite Imagery
Shoreline mapping and shoreline change detection are critical in many coastal zone applications. This paper presents results of the semi-automatic mapping of a coastal area of Lake Erie using 4-meter resolution multispectral (XS) and 1-meter resolution panchromatic (Pan) IKONOS Geo stereo images. An overview of the geometric processing of IKONOS imagery is presented. Then, the latest results of...
متن کاملRetrieval of Coastal Ocean Currents Using Mcc Technique on Satellite Imagery for Supplementing Altimeter Derived Currents
Maximum Cross Correlation (MCC) technique have been used to derive coastal currents from sequential OCM derived suspended sediment concentration (SSC) maps and the MCC currents are integrated with the Ocean surface current analysis-Real time (OSCAR) ocean currents along the coastal regions of the Southern India. OSCAR currents are mainly depended on the oceanographic measurements from the satel...
متن کاملMulti-Temporal Assessment of Mangrove Forests Change in the Coastal Areas of Bushehr Region Based on Landsat Satellite Imagery
Continual access to precise information about the land use/land cover (LULC) changes of the Earth’s surface is extremely important for any sustainable development program in which LULC serves as one of the major input criteria. In this study, a supervised classification was applied to three Landsat images collected in 1986, 1998and 2018, providing mangrove forests change data in the coastal are...
